Dental Degrees - DDS vs DMD

Dentists often have a string of letters following their names.  The first, and most important, is DDS (Doctor of Dental Surgery) or DMD (Doctor of Medical Dentistry).  Different colleges decide whether to award a DDS or DMD degree after students become fully qualified general dentists.  There is no difference in skill level or ability between a DDS and DMD.
